Lets End Bullying in our Schools

Rosie joined Councilmember Mark Weprin in response to the recent suicides and attempted suicides of our school age youths and the growing number of incidents of bullying and cyberbullying in our schools. Rosie’s testimony read, in part:

“These recent heartbreaking incidents clearly demonstrate that we must collectively put as much meaningful effort into “Respect For All” polices as we do in preparing our children for their Regents exams.  We must remember that schools are communities unto themselves and children are exposed to and learn things in the halls and playgrounds as well as the classroom—we must have a universal, zero tolerance policy for all forms of bullying and cyberbulling.  I look forward to a day when each student’s core curricula includes the important pillars of tolerance, compassion, respect and understanding.”
