On Wednesday, July 23rd 2014 our office attended the Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Briefing hosted by the New York City Council. Purpose of this briefing was to bring awareness of DACA eligibility, renewal process and to update councilmembers on New York City’s Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) Initiative.
DACA is a special , non- permanent immigration program subject to renewal that grants work authorization and temporary relief from deportation (“deferred action”) to certain young people who came to the U.S. as children and meet key criteria.
Over the course of Summer 2014, constituent will notice the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA)’s DACA campaign with NYC government Ads exclusively targeting immigrant communities. This administration hopes to bring DACA to as many eligible applicant as possible. These Ads will target specific communities in NYC subway cars and 80 bus shelters and will be available in English, Spanish and Chinese. There will be also Ads available in newspapers in English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Russian, Urdu, Haitian Creole and Bengali. Radio Ads will also be available in Spanish and Chinese.
