The NYCDOE Writers in Schools Program pairs an LGBTQ author with students to discuss an author’s book assigned by the teacher. Teachers apply for the program and will be awarded a class set of books and an in-person or Skype visit from the author for up to 40 students. After teachers are admitted to the program they will be given a list of potential authors and books to choose from. All costs for the author and the books are covered for participating teachers. Applications will be accepted until April 1, 2016, with priority given to early applicants.
